This chapter explained the various forms of the past: Simple past, which has a concrete specific time of when the action was completed. The continuous past tense which is a past action in motion during a certain time in the past. Past Perfect which expresses a past even that happened before another past event. And finally, the Past Perfect Continuous which expresses a past action that was continuous before another past action without a reference to when it the action had completed itself. This chapter was challenging for me because to try to explain the past forms that decribe actions that receed further into the past can get complicated when trying to explain these concepts to a student. I can definitely understand how a student would be confused between Present Perfect and Past Perfect and Past Perfect Continuous; all of these forms relate to varying degrees of how the past is referenced.
