This unit addressed how body language and teaching techniques can be used to manage classes. This unit echoes the ESA approach to teaching. More traditional PPP, the teacher is always in complete control and at the center. This unit explains that it is better to minimize teacher talk time, the focus of the class should always be the student. While the teacher is the one who keeps a class going, the students are the focus and therefore the center. One of my weakest teaching points has always been student names. I know that students are happier when you know their name, but given that I am a floater between multiple schools, I rarely have enough time to truly become familiar with my students. I typically use a lot of body language eye contact to call on students. While this helps me use the intimacy of non-verbal cues to call on students, it lacks the strength of actually calling on students.
