This unit explains in brief the process of planning an English language teaching lesson. It is indeed pretty straightforward unit with good examples. Very useful that the planning forms are also given as an example, that by the way can be used by the teachers who are not yet very experienced. And for others, who are more or less experienced, it can be used for comparison and for adding improvements to their current teaching tactics. It has been very useful for me personally in improving my planning of lessons.It's so important to start out on the right footing, so that students will respect teacher. To do this, the teacher must get to know the class' interests and motivations. This can be done through questionnaires or games. I was a shy student, so it resonated with me to pair shy students with other students, or just to allow them to express themselves when ready. They shouldn't be forced to participate until then. It's very tempting to let the students speak their native tongue, but I learned this is a bad idea.
