In this lesson, we were given two videos of teaching the same lesson but had two very different styles. In the first video, the teacher seemed uninterested in teaching and keep asking for an auxiliary verb and stated that it is easy to come up with. In the second video, the teacher had a sense of humor and starts off by introducing himself and made effort to know the student's name. The teacher used pictures and examples. The teacher also paired the students up. The video clearly showed that the second way of teaching was more effective and students were more interested in learning.This unit covered use of the course book, as well as using other materials including authentic and created materials. The proportion to which each material is used will be the discretion of the teacher. The teacher should decide these proportions based on, but not limited to; student levels, appropriateness to students (what are they studying, what are they interested in, ect), the needs of the specific students (for example, creating supplementary materials when the course does not adequately cover problems students are facing) and to ensure the class is not predictable and boring.
