There are a number of methods of lesson planning, each with its own merits. It's important to integrate your personality, the culture, and the student needs to design a class that's fun and engaging. Eliciting and starting conversations through asking questions is a good way to get a class off on the right path. Understanding which form of ESA to use depends on the material being covered the level of the class, and the balance necessary to ensure the students' success. There were great examples of engagement and study exercises - some, like I spy, alphabet introductions, Hangman, word search, and a form of Madlibs, I experienced in my own youth. The ending section on giving feedback, understanding differences between mistakes and errors, and focusing the correction on the student's self-awareness are key to keeping students positive and coming back for more.
