This section was a mini refresher on types of tests to give students before starting a class as well as during a class to test proficiency. What I learned great deal about was the number of general external examinations that are conducted around the world. I knew before hand that there were tests given to non-native english speakers to asses there skills before getting into college or university, but I did not know that number of tests.
TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, KET, PET, FCE, CAE, CPE, BEC, and BULATS, are just the ones listed in this section but I'm sure there are many more around the world. It seems just by looking at he list that America institutions have one or two general tests to look for proficiency. In U.K. however, they have 6 or more. Understandable since the U.K. is geographically surround by a more diverse population of non-native english speakers.
