In this unit we have viewed two videos giving us practical examples of a teaching session with thai students. The topic of the lesson is the same in the videos (learning of can and can’t), the group of the students is the same and so is the teacher. However in the first lesson, we get a sum-up of what a teacher should not do : among others the teachers attitude is not engaging, he is rather disrespectful which causes student to be embarassed and shy, he uses terms that the student cannot understand and the participation is therefore very poor. The second video is a great example of what a teacher can achieve. Being engaging and smiling, the teacher creates the interest of all students and they all participate. He explains well, he is patient when the students hesitate and praises them when they succeed, all of these make this lesson very successful.
