Unit 10 provided a demonstration of both proper execution and poor execution of an ESL lesson. The first video demonstrated poor lesson planning and execution, resulting in an ineffective lesson; because the teacher did not speak clearly, did not explain the lesson properly, and acted condescendingly towards the class, the students ended up confused, intimidated, and unwilling to participate. The entire first video was difficult to watch due to both the teacher and the students' frustration, which made the atmosphere tense and uncomfortable. The second video showed the same teacher and the same students with the same lesson content, but this time, the teacher demonstrated effective lesson planning and proper execution. As a result, the students were interested and engaged throughout the lesson, and the atmosphere was much more comfortable and laid back.
