This unit focuses on skills necessary in organising and managing the class. Examples of visual contact, well understood gestures, the voice, and how to use these aspects effectively are explained. The various ways teachers group students, how they organise their position and that of the students as well as the advantages and disadvantages of these are covered also covered.
Practical tips are given on how to:
- reduce the time spend writing on the board,
- give individual attention to all students,
- have a good balance between TTT and STT,
- give instructions effectively,
- establishing rapport and class spirit and
- maintaining discipline.
