This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
Unit 3 was a much easier read, since the course was based off more examples and structures of methods of teaching which, I personally find very helpful. The main lesson I took from this unit chapter was the Engage-Study-Activate(ESA) structure method of studying. As I mentioned before in previous unit reflections, I personally do not have much experience working with ESL youths. Understanding the 3 main stages: engage, study and activate helps ease my mind and build my confidence that I am more than capable of teaching youth a new language. Out of the three examples of the ESA structure, I am more gravitated towards the Patchwork ESA lesson plan. The patchwork lesson would allow me to mix the entire curriculum and keep the students engaged with just the right amount of independent/group work that stimulates their minds and creativity.
