This unit looked at the different types of classes one might encounter when teaching the English language. Such classes could be:
- Beginners, where no English or only some English is known. Teaching this type of group involves slow and very visual methods.
- Individual students, where the classes can be tailored directly to the students level, however classroom dynamic and group teaching is sacrificed
- Children, where classes need to avoid boredom by using short fun activities to engage the children
- Business English classes/English for special purposes, where language used in a professional environment has to be replicated
- Multilingual classes, where as English is the common language more focus is applied to it
- Monolingual classes, usually in the students home country, where common interests can be used to engage students more
