This Unit is about how to manage the classroom, and it contains a lot of practical information. I learned that there are a variety of different ways to arrange seating and position of students in relation to the teacher that can enhance the learning activities. There were also helpful suggestions about what factors may be important for reducing the talking time of the teacher and increasing the talking time for the students. It is important for teachers to think about this in advance, since keeping the students quiet and dominate the talking is probably the path of least resistance for native English speakers, but it is not in the best interest of students. It will also be important to think in advance about potential behavior problems and how these should be dealt with, and the suggestions of this Unit were very helpful.
