This unit teaches about lesson planning. While it is important to ensure that your lessons are flexible, a less experienced teacher would benefit from a more structured approach. This ensures that the lesson goes accounting to its planned time, and that each phase is covered in ample time. It is also good to have something to refer to. A lesson plan also provides a good record of what has been done in the class. A lesson plan can be written in either a formal or informal way. As a teacher becomes more experienced, lesson plans may become less structured. When forming a lesson plan a teacher should keep it simple and east to follow. It should not be scripted, but time should be allowed for each activity. All activities to flow from one to another, but it should still be flexible. A lesson plan also helps the teacher to eat sure that he/she has all the lesson aids and materials that are required, including videos, pictures, coloured pens, etc. It is also important that the teacher checks that all the equipment is working. The lesson plan should include the such things as the number of students, the class level, the theme of the lesson, the teaching aid s that will be used, the timing and procedure of the activities, etc. This unit also included an example of a sequence of lessons around the theme 'places that you have been'. Lessons on grammar included the present perfect simple, and modal auxiliary verbs (may and might).
