Unit 11 supported an in-depth coverage of methods to promote the reading and listening skills of students. The unit started with the differentiation between reading and listening to achieve something (purposeful) and reading and listening for enjoyment (entertaining). Unit 11 then went over different reading and listening techniques such as predicting, skimming, and deducing from context. The section that best improved my understanding of teaching reading and listening skills was to utilize comprehension tasks that realistically challenge students to keep them involved and attentive. The tip to choose material that motivates students was helpful to visualize motivating students with activities in the future. It is evident that unit 11 provided great scope of the reading and listening components of learning.
