This unit as a native English speaker is very difficult as I was never really aware of the phonemic symbols so I have really had to learn them from the beginning like the students as this was not taught to me in school. This unit explains very well stressed and unstressed words and how to distinguish the two when teaching for example the students placing their fingers in their throat and feeling the actual vibration to determine if it is stressed or unstressed. Also the way in which you say a sentence with intonation can have a very varied affect for example if you use fall/rise you are expecting an answer and it encourages the other person to respond to your question.
