Writing and speaking skills are equally important but at the same time very different on the way they are approached and taught during class. In this unit, we leanrt that speaking is most of the time more creative and the teacher shoudn't intervene all the time during a student's speech. Whereas writing requires more accurancy and the teacher has more time to correct it (teacher should also check spelling and punctuation besides the content). Additionaly, many students from other cultures have different alphabets which can cause even more difficulty at the moment of writing in English. Therefore, the teacher must always present the students with several samples of writing pieces and practice as much as possible so students have the opportunity to learn different topics.
In my opinion, both skills are the most challenging to teach, so we as teacher must be prepared to face cultural differences and provide a confident and creative environment for our students.
