This unit provides an overview of different equipment and resources that teachers can use to aid their teaching of lessons. Schools and learning centers all will have different resources, but one might expect to work with electronic aids such as an Interactive white board (IWB), overhead projector (OHP), a computer and various websites found on the internet (such as YouTube), other visual and/or audio aids like DVDs, voice and radio recordings, and CDs. Some more traditional tools can be a simple whiteboard, a dictionary, course books, worksheets, ,and role playing cards. With all of these resources, presentation of the information is key, and must be relevant to the material in the lesson. If the teacher uses a whiteboard, their writing should be legible and easy to view for all the students. A DVD or audio recording must have a reasonable volume, and worksheets, roleplaying cards and other visual aids should be well designed and easy to navigate. The equipment and resources can also have an element of interaction to them, allowing the students to be creative in exploring a topic taught in the lesson. Perhaps the students can use a video camera in the class room or post their own videos to YouTube for a project. With technology more easily available and a vast network of online resources, there is a diverse range of resources a teacher can use to aid their lesson.
