This unit gave us an overview of managing our classes. Again, teacher-student roles were mentioned with an emphasis on a non-dominating role of the teacher. The environment should remain relaxed and calm to ensure that all students feel comfortable with learning English. The teacher needs to make sure that they are not taking up too much air time as students should be talking to each other whenever possible. The teacher must speak to give an excellent Native English example at the level of the students. The teacher should know when to step in and help and when to simply observe from afar. Eye contact can say a lot and the same goes for gestures. Students having a high level of respect for the teacher can go a long way and the teacher must highly respect the students as well.
