This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This short, but highly reflective, unit regarded the needs of teacher (and their respective lesson plans) when introducing and teaching new language within the classroom environment. It enforced the four major points that students need to do when learning new language; understand the meaning, understand the construction, be able to reproduce it and ultimately be exposed to it. Prior to the study of this unit, I had no knowledge of the difference between ?receptive vocabulary? (students know it but do not use it) and ?productive vocabulary? (students know it and are able to use it). This is something that I have encountered quite often when studying an L2 language myself (I am currently learning Mandarin in my spare time).
