This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
I have taught English in Mainland China in 2011 and 2012. I was not required to have the TESOL Certificate, but now in learning this Unit #15 I find the parallels to testing methods. I used coursework from study books (Interchange, Speak Up, etc.) and their end of section testing exercises. Though a set of twin boys were taught by me for over 1 year, I was not prone to use formal progress tests. There was a demo lesson given in the beginning with parents present and a Chinese staff colleague where level was gauged, similar to Placement evaluation. I was familiar with external examinations for College placement, but was never tasked with teaching specifically for this reason.
