This unit was very successful in expressing and comparing two different classroom environments. The videos shown were complete contrasts of one another. The first video showed a teacher who walked into the classroom with an expectation that every student should have understood everything he was talking about, which was not the case. He did not introduce the topic, set examples or explain concepts, engage in conversation to increase participation, answer students questions, and he had his back facing the students for long periods of time while writing on the board. The second video showed a teacher who was a lot more engaging and would make an effort to explain vocabularies and concepts, helping students understand better. He also did not tell them answers straight away, instead, he gave hints to try and get them to come up with the answer themselves. These two videos were very useful as it showed the importance of a more positive attitude and portrayed ineffective and effective ways of teaching.
