This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
At my workplace the usage of textbooks and proper curriculum has been an issue from before I started working. When I first started I was thrust into an environment where we had no lesson plans, no curriculum, and no textbooks. There's a separate paid class where the students study to pass certain English tests. In that class the teacher uses textbooks but doesn't rely on them 100% of the time. He uses a lot of supplementary materials that he makes himself and only uses relevant parts from the textbook. As for me, I create most of my materials and I'm also being put in charge of making an annual curriculum for another paid class that we're putting into gear. I love it because every unit that I've read so far I can think of examples from my job as a teacher.
