Students can fall under 2 categories: new students who are unfamiliar with each other or an existing group where students are familiar with each other. In the former, establishing rapport among students and with the class is important. One way to achieve this is by conducting a survey to help teachers know the interests of the students. This further aids in students becoming comfortable with each other. Another way to achieve good rapport and encourage students is by employing fun and engaging games such as hangman or memory games to create an interactive and warm atmosphere.
There are several challenges teachers may face in the classroom. Students may be of varying levels. This creates gaps in the class as some will progress faster than others. One way to combat this is by splitting into groups and appropriating lessons to the levels. Managing and controlling large classes is another challenge. Group work helps this problem as well as appointing leaders among the students.
