It is very important to know the different past tenses and when to use them. You need to know the past simple form (regular and irregular) of every word. It's also important to know the common mistakes and errors and also sample activate teaching ideas to use in your classroom. Kids get confused with the different tenses very quickly and we as teachers need to help them understand the difference between the simple, continuous, perfect and perfect continuous tenses for present, past and future tense. Using examples in class is a good way to explain the difference between the tenses and it is something I will definitely do in my classroom. There's a lot of fun activities to do in class to keep them interested in language learning and will also help them understand (and remember) it better.
