TEFL 120-hour Course - Unit 5

Chantelle details her experience of studying the fifth unit of her online TEFL course with ITTT. In this unit she learnt about classroom management and the different ways you can arrange your classroom and group students according to the needs of the lesson you are going to teach and of the students themselves. The unit also deals with reasons for problem behavior within a lesson and the ways a teacher’s body language can be used to communicate ideas about language as well as to reinforce instructions and requirements of the teacher.

Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. Each of our online courses is broken down into concise units that focus on specific areas of English language teaching. This convenient, highly structured design means that you can quickly get to grips with each section before moving onto the next.

This unit taught me the attributes that good teachers and learners should have. It taught be the various roles that teachers can have, as well as the factors that can influence different types of learners. I have gained knowledge on the various levels of language and the Common European Framework. The content in this unit is great preparation as it introduces me into what the expectations are of me as a teacher as it will greatly influence the outcome of the students. The unit outlines what it is to be an effective instructor and paints a broad outlook of class room environment and content.Good to get started again, it sure gets harder when waiting too long. Again a very good repetition of tenses. I like these lessons since they force me to repeat what I learned long time ago, and get a better understanding of the correct rules for using the different tenses in different scenarios.
