TESOL Videos - TESOL TEFL Reviews - Video Testimonial - Steffie
This is what one of our TEFL graduates feels he has gained from the course, or a part of it, and how he plans to put into action what he has learned.
Unit 2 begins with talking about learning and developmental theories to understand students. It explains how language acquisition works with L1 and how understanding this process can help to understand how students learn L2. It shows important research findings to take into consideration. After these information it starts describing Young Learners and divides them into 2 groups by their age. It describes methodologies to use for each group and then goes into details describing ESA lesson that are suitable for students aged 9-13. Next it gives some ideas about what roles a teacher has to handle in a classroom and how that can be supported by classroom arrangements and different seating options. The next very important part of the unit is about the maturation process and listing the level of receptive and productive skills that the different maturation and age levels contain. This helps creating a suitable syllabus that is appropriate for the group the teacher works with.
