The ITTT/TEFL Course has taught me many things about the english language which I had not come across in depth during my schooling years. Grammar especially was taught to us in the basics of past, present and future tense. This topic is one which is very common and easy to learn but with the different tenses I learned in the TEFL course, I struggled with this topic quite often, but learned a lot from it also. Almost all the units/topics were very interesting and I gained a lot of knowledge, tips and pointers on classroom management, usage of equipments, lesson planning and how every aspect and point is to be considered in becoming a good and efficient teacher. My general overlook on studying and teaching was always very different, giving more homework to the student, more of worksheets and written projects will prove efficient and helpful for them, but actually practice and oral work also makes a lot of difference and students in fact absorb information more this way. When you are the teacher, instead of student or parent ,the outlook on ways and methods of teaching and why is the teacher using this methodology and how come they only use some parts of the course books and not all, also seem to make more sense. On a personal level, being a parent all this points I learned from the course has really helped me understand the method of teaching and learning my kids are having right now. I plan to get more experience on working as a teacher to sharpen my teaching skills, I would prefer to start with the younger age kids and then move on to the older ones. The part time job which I have right now as an english teacher to chinese children does not require much of what I have learned in the course, except for points related to classroom management and how to deal with students and analyzing them. But it does apply well on the whole as I am able to relate to many points more easily, having learned them and using them practically. Hopefully, after I gain more experience and apply what I have learned and practice it, I would hope to get a job as a teacher in a good school. Overall I felt that the course was very well structured and covered all areas which are necessary to enter a classroom with the confidence to begin teaching.
