This section discussed how and when we should introduce different vocabulary, language functions and grammatical ideas to our students. It demonstrated the the steps/concepts we could use to determine the appropriateness of our classes content, considering the level of students we are teaching. It also was helpful in suggesting different class structures that might be most suitable for teaching vocabulary as opposed to grammar centered classes.
I personally appreciated the opportunity this lesson gave to review the ESA structure, which has already helped me in my classes. I applied a straight arrow method this morning and noticed the results. My student was much more attentive and eliciting language from him in the Activate phase was much simpler than usual.
