Unit 3 discovers wide range of course development methods. It makes clear that there are five knowledge levels (starter, elementary, pre-intermediate, intermediate, upper-intermediate) and it should be defined at each group of students in the very beginning of the course. It is very important to develop a proper test for level definition. It should include grammar aspects. This test may check reading, comprehension and writing skills, although, in my opinion, listening and speaking skills should also be checked.
There are certain limiting factors for a teacher, such as time constraints, resources, cultural issues and the students themselves. Their aims, purposes, environment differ a lot. That makes level of motivation for English learning very different.
