I especially like the unit's analogy of the tree, where grammar is likened to the tree trunk, and vocabulary/function to the leaves, and how each attribute needs the other to present completeness. The intricate and proper meshing of grammar, vocabulary and function allow for a conducive learning environment of a new language, as applied to lesson structures. To allow teachers the freedom to choose which lesson structures will function best, depending on the class dynamic; even though these are highly effective lesson structures, the use of the different lesson structures as it relates to teaching a new language ( grammar, vocabulary and function, is not indelibly etched in stone, but rather is presented as a discretionary choice.
