Tenses play an important role in distinguishing the meaning of a sentence and when and where it could have happened. The tenses allow the understanding of how something has taken place. For example, if it took place in the past, present, ongoing, or future. Without knowing the tense of a sentence it would be impossible to understand when something is happening.In this unit we learnt about different ways of evaluating students` current level and progress thanks to several types of tests that allow teachers to choose the proper material for the course and to understand correctly what language level each student has. Besides, we briefly studied external examinations such as TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, and Cambridge assessment.
