This unit makes it clear as to the importance of teaching receptive skills to students of a foreign language. I learnt that listening and reading are equally important and need to be taught hand in hand. They compliment each other and a student would have difficulty learning if only one of the was taught. I also learnt about the different types of text, authentic and unauthentic and the many ways in which people read.Unit one introduced the outline of the business English course. Contents explained included the target group, the aims, and the objectives of the course. From unit one I gained a basic understanding of the teaching business English world and had a little taste of what to expect throughout and upon completion of the course. I was quite relieved to read that no previous knowledge of a business I may teach is required.
