This unit covers testing and evaluation at the beginning, during, and even after the class has taken place. It is helpful for me to know of the various external tests that may be motivating students involvement in an ESL class. I think progress tests combined with end of week tutorials of the language points are important for measuring the effectiveness of class, and in helping with retention of information throughout the unit of study. This lessons also points out the importance that these progress tests utilize all four skills involved in language learning and not simply be written examinations.
