Unit 10 shows us two teaching scenarios for both successful learning and unsuccessful teaching/learning. This was certainly helpful. Watching the second video, seeing the ESA in practice was very enlightening. The first video was absolutely painful to watch and I can't imagine anyone wanting to come back to his class. There was no engagement, no explanation of tasks, his back was to the class, he used no pictures or gestures and did no monitoring. I felt very uncomfortable and frustrated watching this video. The second video was a delight. There were lots of smiles and even applause. The tasks were clear, there was a lot of student talk and it is evident that learning happened during that session. I could see how all the parts of ESA played out during this video.
