This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This unit dealt with the practical side of teaching using course books and lesson materials. I found it to be very helpful to consider using course books while omitting or adding and creatively using what's suggested to tailor it to the specific class of students that will be learning. I think this was an excellent unit and really appreciate the video, as well. It was helpful to be reminded of very simple things like checking cd's before actually using them in class. This unit covers the productive language skills. The two productive skills are speaking and writing. I learned that writing is the skill that normally receives the least emphasis. Younger students who struggle speaking can easily become frustrated because it is so hard for them to communicate. As with other topics the study phase is where the focus should be on accuracy. The activate phase is where the students are encouraged to be creative and use the material.
