This unit deals with course books and materials; the advantages and disadvantages. The unit explains the course book; the options for course book use and analyzing a course book for use in the class lessons. The use of course books and materials come with complex issues for teachers who are looking to use these resources. They may be very predictable and boring for the students, and dictate what is to be taught. Materials created by the teacher are more interesting and relevant to the course. A teacher can adapt these creative materials to their students' live. The use of authentic materials make the lesson more interesting and motivating. Students also gain confidence when they understand them and these creative materials can also be geared to the interests of a particular group of students. This unit helped me to see how I can adapt the course book and materials in order to gain students' interests in order to engage them so they may participate.
