The decision whether and when to use authentic vs created, targeted materials and whether or not to emply the use of a textbook will depend on a number of factors. The level of the students, their ability to purchase a book, the teacher's native artistic or creative ability and the temperment of the class. It is usually always best to use a combination of each of these types of resources and materials to help keep lessons fresh, topical and interesting.This unit felt pretty light in terms of information, and I don't mean that as a bad thing. It really focused on one area of language being: vocabulary, grammar and functions. It helped give a general idea of how to gauge the difficulty of those topics to your students, depending on where they may be in terms of their progress to the language. Giving examples for ESA structure was very helpful as well, as it gave examples that could be used in real life.
