In this unit, some common methods and techniques of teaching English were introduced. For successful English-teaching, a variety methods should be used to avoid being boring and predictable. The concept of ESA (Engage, Study and Activate) lessons was introduced. There are three types of ESA lessons and they can be used depending on student language level. \"Straight Arrow\" ESA lessons could be used for lower levels when then teacher knows exactly what he/she needs to teach to the students; \"Boomerang\" ESA lessons could help teacher find out what the focus should be on during the Study stage, since he/she could find out how much students know about a particular topic; \"Patchwork\" ESA lessons should be used with higher levels with mini-sequences building up to the whole lesson. Different kinds of Engage, Study and Activate activities are covered in this unit. The techniques for correction and feedback are also introduced.
