This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
I've learned that there are two types of skills that students need to develop in order to learn a language. The first type are receptive skills which were fully discussed in this unit.
Receptive skills include reading and listening. These skills are both important because they help us understand contexts. These skills are effectively used when we fully grasp the overall meaning of things from what we already know although sometimes, learners might encounter different problems when it comes to understanding what they reading or listening to. It is why as teacher, we have to help them by choosing materials that interests or motivates them; when we know that there will be some unfamiliar words which will be mentioned in the text, it is best to pre-teach them. It is also important that we vary the type of materials that we use so that we can cater to the interests and needs of all of our students.
