This unit went over the different theories, methods, and techniques that are/have been popular when teaching English as a foreign language. There are many different methods out there, and they each have their own pros and cons. Some may be more effective for some teachers than others. The ESA method is a strong, concise method, and is a good start for new teachers. When in the \"Engage\" section of your lesson, you want to use activities to get students interested and speaking as much as possible. In the \"Study\" portion of the lesson, you want to have the students focus on specifics parts of the language. In the \"Activate\" portion, you want the students to be using as much language as they can. This part focuses more on fluency than accuracy. Overall, you want to be able to keep the students attention, not over or under correcting, and encourage them to speak as much English as possible.
