This unit covers the very complicated topic of pronunciation and phonology and how to teach it to students of the English language. It starts off with a part on intonation and gives some techniques for indicating and teaching intonation in sentences. What comes naturally to English native speakers might be very difficult for students of the English language. This unit also gives detailed information on articulation, the phonemic alphabet and the theory behind it. It also gives ideas on when and how to include pronunciation-exercises in a lesson. In this unit I learned about the four different types of past tenses, these are: past simple, past perfect, past continuous, and past perfect continuous. These units have been teaching me rules that I hadn't ever noticed before since I am a native english speaker. It makes explaining past tenses simpler when I can describe the various rules on the four types of past tenses. Also I learned a lot from the past simple irregular examples. It is helpful to see such a wealth of examples for irregulars because when teaching most of them slip your mind.
