This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This unit went through all the different teaching methods and approaches. It explained the main three parts of a lesson; engage, study and activate, how they were different and how to structure and approach them. It made clear the difference between mistakes and errors and how to differenciate between them. When correcting students to always give positive feedback and to wait until they have finished talking before interrupting them to encourage flow. The unit showed a vast range of activities to get ideas from for the ESA structured lessons. I learnt many things in this unit, when/how to appropriately correct students verbally and written, how to structure a lesson and how important it is to have that structure and those stages. The different theories and techniques to engage students and help them learn, and how it gave me an insight to what would and wouldn't work.
