This lesson was about the different types of teaching aids used in an ESL classroom. The lesson covered the slightly-outdated methods of aid - such as video cassettes - and the very modern methods as well - such as Youtube. However, the lesson also warned about technological problems that could happen in the classroom, such as how long an OHP takes to set up and how IBW might not work when needed most, so the chapter suggested making back-up lessons as well. Finally, many online resources for dictionaries, thesauri, and podcasts were given at the lesson's end.I found this unit to be the easiest so far and the content was mostly common sense. I employ all these strategies in my teaching however it was good to recall why these strategies are effective, as they just come naturally after teaching for many years. I found question 16 challenging as \"allowing students to work out the purpose of an activity for themselves\" is a strategy I have employed with my older students to verify if they fully understand concepts being taught. I understand this is the teacher's role however it can become a teaching strategy as well.
