This unit Course Development helped me get an idea and overview of how to group students based on level test and need analysis. I learnt how these level test and need analysis make the work easier in grouping the students which in turn helps to teach the class effectively as we get to know the level of the students. I also learnt how to effectively design a syllabus and different kinds of tests to be conducted at different levels. I also learnt the importance of examinations and course evaluation.This unit speaks of two materials that teachers can use to teach students. One is course book and the other is authentic materials such as newspapers, songs, poems, etc. The former is useful in that it has been tried and tested, but its disadvantages vary from being incompatible with the class context to being boring for students. Authentic materials are useful in that they provide more contextual and pragmatic teaching material. It also allows the teacher to apply creativity in teaching material.
