In this unit I learned the basics of teaching new vocabulary terms and grammar. The unit clarified four things students needs to focus on when learning a language; which ESA method is preferred to teach grammar and vocabulary; how to wisely choose words out of the thousands in the language depending on the practical usefulness to the students; what the students need to learn about vocabulary terms; and various techniques for engaging the students as they experiment with the new words. Further, this unit gave practical suggestions for techniques to use during the Engage, Study, and Activate stages of a lesson. Finally, the importance of teaching language functions, such as inviting, refusing, etc. was touched on. The challenging Task Sheet assignments gave me a chance to experiment with planning actual ESA lessons. Thank you.
