Authentic materials are important for more advanced students in that they can critically think about more difficult and interesting material that may be more satisfying and interesting than the typical created material. Authentic material can be used by more beginner students, but only if they are only expected to learn tiny pieces of it, to not overwhelm and confuse beginner students. Created materials are very important in that they are structured to meet the needs and interests of the students and you can create them or modify them as you go. Course books are a very good guide and gives you tired and proven methods it give your lesson plans a great starting point. It is important though, to not rely entirely on coursebooks, due to the fact they are very inflexible and you can tend to lose the interest of your class.
