In this unit I have learnt about different parts of speech: nouns, adjectives, articles, etc. Since the unit not only explains the meaning of those words, but also describe the most important aspects of them, it can be considered a useful introduction to a grammar course.
I have found the unit very useful for two reasons:
First, when I teach English at secondary school, I always start the course by dealing with parts of speech –I say to students that a language is very much like a house, and we need to know the characteristics of the bricks we are using to build the house. Those bricks are the parts of speech.
Second, after I’m done with parts of speech, I start to teach some language point, and this unit has been a kind o guide that I can use when I need to concentrate on the essential points of grammar.
