Unit 16 touches on a very specific part of the English language: possibilities. Conditionals address past, present, and future possibilities. Words such as \"if\" or \"when\" are used in these types of sentences and are dependent on the tense. There are 5 types of conditional sentences, all with their own format and usage. Teaching conditionals can be done by manipulating the sentences (only giving half or scrambling multiple halves) and allowing the students to make the correct form. The other topic this unit addresses is direct and reported speech. In a nutshell, direct speech repeats the words spoken and indirect (or reported) speech reports what was spoken. Each type of speech requires the sentences to be manipulated according to tense, etc.
