This unit focussed on different kinds of past tense that can be used in the english language. The first is simple past tense. This involves regular and irregular verbs that have taken place in the past. There are many verbs in the english language that have irregular past tense versions but there is no easy trick to remember them. Continuous past tenses use verbs can be used to express a gradual development or an action that once began and probably continued. The next is perfect past tense and it is the same as the perfect present tense that I reviewed in an earlier section. Lastly, there is perfect continuous past tense verbs which are not used all that often.
