Speaking and writing are productive skills, which have the same purpose for communication. Speaking and writing are equally important so teachers should not neglect one of them. For speaking, I have learned that accuracy and fluency carry equal importance and each skill should be focused in different stages of a lesson. For example, accuracy based activities can be carried out in the study phase of a lesson, whereas fluency based activities require students? creativity and therefore can be conducted in the activate phase of a lesson. Teachers should also encourage student interaction and arouse students? interest in the activities provided so that the students can learn more effectively.
